Sound familiar?

  • Your jobs live in your head, your texts and on scraps of paper.
  • Follow-ups slip, and invoices go out late.
  • You’ve tried an app or two and stopped using them.
  • You worry that new software will add work instead of removing it.
  • You’d rather be doing the work than managing it.

If that sounds like your business, we should talk.

What I mean by “business systems”

A business system is simply the way work moves through your business: how a call becomes a job, a job becomes an invoice, and an invoice becomes money in the bank.

A callA jobAn invoiceA payment

When that flow is clear and written down, with the repetitive steps handled for you, you stop relying on memory. I help you set that up, mainly using Zoho, a family of business apps that work together.

Built around the way
you actually work

  • Process before software.First we look at how work flows today. Sometimes the fix is a better habit, rather than a new app.
  • Built around your crew.Give each person access to the tools and information they need, with permissions and notifications set to suit their role. Keep everyone connected without overwhelming them with unnecessary details.
  • Simple first. We start with the smallest setup that solves the real problem, then add to it only when it earns its place.
  • I use this myself.I run my own carpentry business on the same kind of setup I’d build for you.
  • Honest guidance. I’ll help you find what makes sense for your business, whether that means Zoho, making better use of tools you already have, or simplifying the process itself.

What this looks like in practice

My own carpentry business

I needed a way to keep the details together while staying focused on the work in front of me.

  • Each client has a project, with tasks for each part of the job.
  • An automation lets me add materials to my shopping list directly from the project app.
  • My time logs flow into invoicing, so I can bill from the work I’ve already recorded.

Ways to work together

01 / Understand

Systems Check

A visit or video call to map how jobs, customers and billing move through your business today.

You get a short written plan: what to fix first, what to leave alone, and whether software would help.

02 / Build

Setup

I set up and configure the tools from your plan, then show you and your team how to use them.

That might mean Zoho Bigin for customer tracking, FSM for field service, or Projects with Books for projects and billing.

Quoted after the Systems Check.

03 / Keep it useful

Ongoing support

Adjustments, fixes and new automations as your business changes.

We can discuss the support you need and agree on the scope and cost.

Questions people ask

What does it cost?

Get in touch to discuss the Systems Check and its price. Setup work is quoted once we both know what’s needed.

Do I have to use Zoho?

No. Zoho is what I know best and usually recommend because its apps work together. For very small needs, Google tools can be enough, and I’ll say so.

My crew isn’t techy. Will this work?

The system should fit your crew. Paper is fine where paper works. We’ll look at what people are comfortable using and build from there.

How long does a setup take?

It depends on the scope. We’ll agree on a timeline once we know what’s needed, and start with what matters most.

I already pay for software I don’t use. Now what?

That’s common. We’ll look at whether to make it work, replace it or drop it.

Do you work outside Kitchener-Waterloo?

Mostly I work in person within about an hour of Kitchener. Remote work is possible for the right project.

I’m Laverne.

As a carpenter running my own business, I know how much there is to keep track of beyond the work itself. I started building simple systems to make that easier. Now I help other business owners do the same, so they can spend less time managing the details and more time doing the work they care about.
